Why You’ll Love This White Bean Hummus Dip

This white bean hummus is made from simple ingredients that pack a punch in both flavour and nutrition. Cannellini beans provide a smooth, buttery texture that blends beautifully with the tangy lemon juice and nutty tahini. Adding Za’atar spice or sesame seeds on top adds a unique and aromatic finish, making this dip stand out at any gathering. It is a great source of fibre and protein, offering a variety of essential nutrients like iron and magnesium.

The Nutritional Power of Cannellini Beans

Cannellini beans are the star of this dish, and for good reason. These white beans are low in fat, high in protein, and loaded with fibre, making them an excellent choice for anyone looking to maintain a healthy diet. They also contain antioxidants that support heart health and help reduce inflammation. When combined with tahini, which is rich in healthy fats and essential vitamins, this dip becomes really nutritious and a great way to fuel your day.

Easy Ingredient Substitutions

In this recipe I use Za’atar which is a Middle Eastern spice blend. It is a mix of sesame seeds with herbs and spices such as thyme, marjoram and sumac. It goes really well sprinkled on dips, such as hummus, and is often used for seasoning vegetables and salads as well. If you don’t have Za’atar spice on hand, no problem! You can easily substitute it with sesame seeds, sweet paprika, or even a pinch of cumin to add a different flavour profile. If you’re out of cannellini beans, try using other white beans, such as navy beans or great northern beans, instead. They’ll give you a similar creamy texture and mild flavour, ensuring your hummus turns out just as delicious.
